Superiority
Pharmacology:Ceftiofur hydrochloride can be rapidly decomposed into furoic acid and de-furanoyl ceftiofur. The latter is active and can inhibit the cell wall synthesis of sensitive proliferating bacteria (stage III). Its antimicrobial spectrum is similar to that of cefotaxime. Ceftiofur has a wide range of antimicrobial activities in vitro and is effective against many pathogens, including Pasteurella, Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, Salmonella and Escherichia coli.
Indication:Ceftiofur hydrochloride is suitable for the treatment of bovine respiratory diseases (transport fever, pneumonia) caused by Pasteurella haemolyticus, Pasteurella multocida and Haemophilus lethargica. It can be used in lactation and non-lactation. Ceftiofur sodium can be used for respiratory diseases of horses caused by Streptococcus equi subspecies of plague, and ceftiofur hydrochloride can be used for hoof rot of cattle. For pigs, both can be used to control / treat bacterial pneumonia. Ceftiofur sodium is also suitable for respiratory tract diseases in sheep and goats and sensitive urinary tract infections in dogs. It also has potential therapeutic effects on other small animal infections and can be used for newborn chickens and turkeys.
Application:The third generation cephalosporins, which are specially used for animals, are mainly used to treat infectious diseases of pigs, cattle, horses, dogs and one day old chicks caused by susceptible bacteria.
